Font of April 5th: Scout

Scout by FontBureau's Cyrus Highsmith was actually designed for Entertainment Weekly. And now we have a typeface which is cooler than FF DIN, fresher than Trade Gothic, and not as strange (sometimes) as ITC Conduit.

And of course FB doesn't just offer a font, they offer a lot (24) of styles starting at $40 which is reasonable.

Font of April 4th: Gaslon

Gaslon by Canada Type is a great display font, its warm curves cry for tightly set headlines :) It's also very affordable: $19 for 2 weights (Gaslon and Gaslon Alt). Don't forget to check the rest of their fonts, great stuff!

Font of April 3rd: Relato

Relato by emtype is a very legible Serif face, with beautiful italics; equally great for long passages or short headlines! At $55/weight it's not the cheapest font to get, but look at that G! Totally worth it! And Relato Sans is there too!

Font of April 2nd: Popular

Popular by Christian Schwartz is a very legible Slab Serif, which obviously started as "DIN, but with slabs". Of course his other fonts are worth a long and recurring look. What I like most: he always writes a small story regarding the font, and what he learnt designing it.

Fontstruct by FontShop: Free font editor

How cool is that? With this tool you can create your own modular fonts. There is some great stuff in the gallery already, well worth a look!

Font of April 1st: Kridpages

T26 presents Kridpages, which works surprisingly well (for a display font) in small sizes. And it's only $19/weight!

Rock with Underware

Underware is giving away a free version of Fakir! No, wait, that sounded misleading, they do give it away, but only for a purpose and for a limited time, here's the passage from the EULA:

If you downloaded this font with the ‘Rock with Fakir’-package from www.underware.nl, a temporary testing license is granted. This typeface ‘Fakir Rock.otf’ can only be used to create a contribution for the ‘Rock with Fakir’-
competition.
Any other use is prohibited. The temporary testing license will expire as soon the ‘Rock with Fakir’-competition is finished, but in any case not any later than by the end of June 2008.

So play fair, and you may even win something. Good luck!
